America das Mitternachtige nach der Zeichnung des Herren Wilhem Delisle in Verlang Joh. Justine Gebauers

A most attractive hand-colored copperplate engraving published by John Justine Gebauers in 1745. Featuring two highly decorative cartouces and excellent detail of the continent. Greenland is attached to North America and Canada is divided into various political regions. Within the future United States: the English colonial divisions are along the east coast, the whole southeast is shown as “Floride”, the southwest is named “Nouveau Mexique”, and a peninsular California coast contains several place names. There is excellent contemporary treatment of the Mississippi River, an updated depiction of the Great Lakes, and through out the map are the naming of settlements and tribal territories. A very difficult map to find. Guaranteed to be authentic and over two hundred and sixty years old.
